A little bit about me
I’m several posts in to this new world of blogging and haven’t taken the time to tell you about me and my family that you will often hear about! I already told you that my husband nicknamed me Martha Villa and that has stuck with him since our wedding day. Both my husband (Brian) and I have degrees in Industrial Engineering. Neither of us have done classic industrial engineering in many years but it’s definitely in our blood. People often ask what does an industrial engineer do? My quick response has always been that we take something and make it better, more efficient. For pretty much anything that I do I’m always in the back of my head searching for a way to make it better…Better can be quicker, easier, taste better…’better’ varies in my mind but the constant is that I’m always trying to improve.
A little bit about my family
I have a wonderful husband, Brian, that I’ve been married to since 2005. We met at work; our cubicles were next to each other until we got married and then we decided it was time to work in different areas so that we weren’t together 100% of the time! Brian is my number 1 supporter and my go-to for anything technical. We have 3 children-Abigail-nearly 7, Clara-5, and Matthew-4months! My girls are girly girls, only wear dresses and love all things sweet! Matthew is the happiest baby and loves smiling and laughing. We can’t wait to see who he becomes. We live in Nashville, TN and yes my girls favorite shoes are pink boots! My only complaint about Nashville is the distance to the ocean. There’s something about salt air that I can’t get enough of.
A little bit about the blog
I’m sure this blog will evolve over time just as all things do but for now I’ll break things down to a few of my interests.
Cooking-I am addicted to all things sweet. I’m always trying a new recipe and trying to improve my baking skills looking for that perfect recipe. Once again, I blame my mom for this love. I grew up eating dessert every night after dinner…I’ve eaten lots of cake and cookies in my lifetime!
Creating-I am a diehard DIYer. I have a love of power tools, paint brushes, sewing and all things crafty. I’m always up to something in one or more of those areas. Just when my husband thinks he’s caught up on the ‘honey-do’ list I add a few more items. There is no shortage of projects in our household. I learned to sew when I was a kid but became passionate about it when Abigail was born. I loved the designer baby clothes but didn’t want to pay the prices so I taught myself to sew cute baby clothes and haven’t stopped.
Celebrating-I love to entertain. It can be as simple as bringing dinner to a new neighbor or an elaborate birthday party. I’m always thinking about that next party or get together and what I’m going to do creative. This is one area that I’ve had to improve my planning. When my husband and I were first married I’d get really stressed just before a party and I’d turn what was supposed to be a fun event into a stressful one. One day Brian told me that I had to figure out how to not be stressed or we were going to have to stop having parties! That’s when I figured out that I had to be organized and had to plan out what needed to be accomplished to make the party fun for all. I’m happy to report that when we entertain today, we have fun! I hope you enjoy following this adventure! Chandra
