Three cheers for Pinterest! Seriously, what did we ever do without it? I have been out of town and needed a quick valentine for my girls to put together for school on Friday (yes, tomorrow)! While I was out of town I found just what I was looking for, ordered the supplies and when I got home yesterday I was ready to help the girls knock out super cute, homemade valentines for all of their classmates. As a note, I purchased the gallons and heart ribbon from oriental trading but you can find similar items at any local party supply store.
I don’t know about you but I just love a homemade valentine. There are some many cute ideas and this is one that comes together quickly. The best part of this valentine—you can do it with or without candy! My girls chose to put in some of their favorite candy inside the balloon and their friends will have to blow up the balloon to get their treat.
This really couldn’t be simpler…gather some paper (card stock if you have it), balloons (hearts are cute but a standard round one will work just fine in a pinch), ribbon, candy (if you like), scissors and you are set!
As I mentioned, I found this idea through Pinterest and the picture took me to the blog Eighteen25. You should go check out the site. The instructions were perfect. If you happen to have Avery labels unhand by all means use them! I didn’t have labels but I did have card stock and that didn’t stop my from creating the tags on the Avery site.
I laid out the tags with ribbon already attached, a class list, the balloons and candy and we were finished in less than an hour! I had to hold the balloon open while the girls stuffed the balloon with candy. The girls definitely felt like they participated in creating this valentine and they have had many discussions about what their friends would think about having to get the candy out of the balloon.
Happy Valentine’s day! If you already have your valentine for this year (and chances are that you do) just ‘Pin it’ and you are ready for next year.
